Clotheshorse is a sustainable and socially responsible company. We utilize a local production network to upcycle reclaimed vintage, ethically sourced fabrics to create functional and stylish pocket squares.
A considerable amount of thought and effort is invested in our pocket square production process regarding the overall environmental and social impact they have on our world.
Ethically Sourced Fabrics
The fine textiles and fabrics used in our local production process are either salvaged or purchased from socially conscious organizations that directly benefit the local communities where our products are sold.
Salvaging and purchasing fabrics secondhand keeps them out of landfills and does not affect the demand of these textiles within the retail market.
Environmental Sustainability
Our stylish pocket squares are only sold in select boutique shops and in our online catalog–hosted on wind-powered servers–to help neutralize the environmental impact and overall carbon footprint of our business.
Additionally, our fine pocket squares are easily recycled (and are sold with detailed recycling instructions), should they ever become damaged or worn out, permanently keeping them out of landfills.
After our pocket squares are created, all unusable materials–especially cotton fabric–are sent to garment recycling centers that turn scrap materials into new products such as sound-deadening materials for the automotive industry, archival-quality paper, currency, blankets and even plastic fencing.
Not a single thread or scrap of material used in our local production process is wasted.
Socially Responsible Production
Our locally sourced production process creates domestic work for local seamstresses, tailors, designers, stylists and other small businesses. Additionally, a portion of all proceeds are donated directly to Goodwill Industries and tiesforhunger.org, further expanding our company’s social impact.
Eco-friendly Operations
Our website, blog and online catalog are fully powered and hosted on wind-powered servers that considerably diminish our company’s carbon emissions and overall environmental impact.
Additionally, all items purchased through our website and online catalog are shipped in “brown bag” recycled mailing materials made from 100% post-consumer waste.
